Does Claude train on your data?
On Team and Enterprise, Anthropic doesn’t use your inputs or outputs to train Claude by default. On Free, Pro and Max it is a setting each person controls, listed by Anthropic as opt-out. One exception applies on every plan: a conversation sent with a thumbs up or down may be used.

- Deleted chats leave back-end storage within 30 days. If you allow training, data may be kept in de-identified form for up to 5 years. Chats flagged for policy violations are kept up to 2 years.
- Admin controls
- None. The pricing page lists SSO and central administration as not included on Free, Pro, or Max.

- Owners can set a custom retention period of 30 days or more. If none is set, data is kept indefinitely until deleted. Deleted chats leave back-end storage within 30 days.
- Admin controls
- Adds SCIM, audit logs, role-based access, Compliance API, domain capture, and custom data retention controls to the Team controls.
Where your data is stored
For commercial products, Anthropic says data is stored in the US. By default, traffic may be routed to select countries in the US, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Our take
For a firm of 15 to 200 people
Use Team or Enterprise for client work. On the personal plans the training setting belongs to each person and there is no central administration. On a team plan, consider turning off chat ratings, since rating a chat can submit the whole conversation.
