Trust and data safety
Is it changing anything in the original files?
AI reading your files doesn’t change them. It can only alter an original if it has been given permission to write, and a well-built system isn’t. In our builds the originals are never touched: the system works on a copy or writes a new output, and that output is checked against the source.
Why people ask
That the spreadsheet everyone relies on gets quietly altered and nobody notices until it matters.
The longer answer
There are 2 separate permissions: reading and writing. Most connections are set up read-only, which means the tool can look and can’t touch.
Where a system does need to write, for example to add a note to a record, it writes somewhere new and logs that it did. The source document stays as it was.
Where AI falls short
This question was asked out loud in a working session and logged without a name or a company.
