Choosing help
How do we choose an AI consultant?
To choose an AI consultant, ask 2 things: what they last recommended against, and who looks after the build a year later. The first tells you whether they’ll be honest about payback. The second tells you whether you’re buying something that lasts or something delivered and left.
Why people ask
That everyone in this market sounds the same, and they can’t tell who is good.
The longer answer
- What did you last tell a client not to automate? No answer means they say yes to everything.
- Who maintains it in a year? “You do” is fine if you have the people. Otherwise it will break.
- Can I talk to a client like us? Similar size and similar work, not a famous logo.
- How do you decide what to build first? It should be a number, not a preference.
- What can the system see, and who approves what it does? They should answer without hesitating.
- What happens to our data? Which tools, which plans, and where it is stored.
A consultant who is selling a particular platform will tend to find that the platform is the answer. Ask what they resell.
